I Have Failed You ...

I have failed you, oh loyal reader.

The previous post, this week's church-less movie of the week, I actually wrote that last night before I went to bed and scheduled it to post this sunday morning which is usually when I get time all by myself to watch some crappy movie while everyone else is at church.

Well, looks like they didn't go to church. So my usual sunday ritual of watching a crappy movie and finally getting some peaceful time alone to do what I want without the kids was interrupted by screaming children, petty relationship arguments and family drama.

I hope you enjoy seeing this week's church-less movie of the week. Because I haven't seen it. And now we have to take our computer into Best Buy for them to fix it because it keeps overheating and shutting itself down. So I don't know when or IF I will be able to see this week's movie. Which is lame ass because I really wanted to see that piece of shit.

Plus, and I hope I'm not an asshole for saying this, but I always love being alone on sunday mornings. On any given weekday my job will be stressful, I'll be exhausted from it PLUS they LOVE getting me in trouble over nothing. That's stressful. Then my kids are yelling and screaming, Bela's freaking out or crying and Emerald is developing an attitude, plus my wife and I fight over the smallest things. That's all stressful. And having Natasha's family so CLOSE to us adds so much stupid drama into my life. So Sunday is usually MY day to decompress and relax. And I haven't had that for two sundays now.

I'm libel to explode over here.

Anyway, here's some free music for your punk ass, courtesy of the goddamn WIND CLAN which rules all other blogs ...

MF Doom: Lightworks

The Beatles: Glass Onion

Eels: I'm A Loser (Beatles cover)

Rockabye Baby: Dear Prudence (lullaby version)

John Lennon: Watching The Wheels (acoustic)

Ernie (Sesame Street): I Don't Want To Love On The Moon

Steve's Church-Less Movie Of The Week ...

Yoinked from Wikipedia ...

"Mega Shark Versus Giant Octopus is a disaster film by The Asylum, released direct-to-DVD on May 19, 2009. Featuring veteran actor Lorenzo Lamas and singer/songwriter Deborah Gibson, the film was originally titled Mega Shark Versus Giant Octopus 3D, but '3D' was stricken from the title when the studio failed to acquire adequate funding for 3-D film. The theatrical trailer released in mid-May 2009 became a viral hit, scoring over a million hits on MTV.com and another million more on YouTube upon launch, prompting brisk pre-orders of the DVD.

Mega Shark Versus Giant Octopus premiered at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival. Coincidentally, Gibson's former music rival Tiffany had her film Necrosis (a.k.a. Blood Snow) premiere at the Cannes as well. Bill Gibron of PopMatters gave the film an 8 out of 10, saying that 'schlock may be an acquired taste, like caviar, foie gras, and Arby's, but it's hard to see how anyone wouldn't enjoy this extremely tacky dish.' He also praised Gibson's performance in the film. Despite criticizing the overall film quality, Stephen of The Three Rs gave the film a 7 out of 10, calling the plane attack scene the epitome of monster awesome ...

On the other hand, Duffmovies.com gave the film a low review, calling it 'a DTV stinker and not even so bad its good. Everyone involved should be thoroughly ashamed and struck off the Screen Actors/Directors guild.'

Following the buzz generated by the release of the film's trailer, Gibson hinted on an interview that a sequel may be in the works. 'Because God knows what else is in the ocean. I thought maybe a seahorse? Maybe a 500-foot lobster would be good. But yes, there is the potential for a sequel, and I would absolutely love it.'"

I'm excited about doing my church-less sunday movie again. It feels like it's been forever that I've had time to just lay around and be lazy by myself. It feels good.

Back Home ...

I come back home after five days at a funeral and Isabela is loud and crying, Emerald is grounded and wont listen, and my wife has Bronchitis. I was hoping to get a big, huge, warm reception and instead I get a house full of loud, sick people who don't even seem to care that I was gone. And now I have to wake up at 5:00am tomorrow for work.

The Thing, The Mystery Of The Arizona Desert ...

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:

"The Thing? is an Arizona roadside attraction hyped by signs along Interstate 10 between El Paso, Texas, and Tucson, Arizona. Teaser ads, such as The Thing? What is it? and Mystery of the Desert, entice travelers along this sparse stretch of desert highway to pull in just to find out what the mysterious Thing? might be."

Now, Steve Galindo and his family take YOU to ... THE THING!

Arizona Pictures, Day Two ...

Too tired. So no explanations for these photos. Just deal with it.

An Afternoon With My 98-Year-Old Grandfather ...

He's old and frail. His mind is there but it's inpieces. He can remember a story from 1920 when he ran away from home by hopping a train and going to El Paso. But you tell him your name five minutes later he'll have no idea who you are and he'll get confused. He forgot me a few times but he told a few jokes and laughed and smiled and kept complimenting me on how goodmy moustache looked.

He said I had gotten old. That I was catching up with him. And with a smile he called me "the old man from the rio grande."

I liked that.

When we got there he kept asking me where his wife was.

We didn't have the heart to tell him she was dead. We told him she was in the hospital but she would be okay.

It hurts to lie to a 98 year old man.

But we're on the road now and we're about to stop by THE THING, the mystery of the desert, the American southwest's best cheap roadside tourist trap.

And a trip to the so-called "mystery of the desert" always makes me feel like a kid again.
