Steve's Church-less Movie Of The Week, Part 2 ...

Yoinked from imdb and wikipedia ...

"Tormented (Known in Austria / West Germany as 'Der Turm der schreienden Frauen' and in Italy as 'Delitto del Faro') is a 1960 horror movie starring Richard Carlson and was directed and produced by schlockmeister Bert I. Gordon for Allied Artists Pictures Corporation. According to an interview with Bert I. Gordon, an alternate version of the film was made for foreign release that featured some nudity.

Ok. So here's the plot...

On an island community off California, allegedly famous jazz pianist Tom Stewart is preparing to marry the woman he loves. His plans are threatened by his old girlfriend who shows up secretly and during a confrontation on the top of a island's lighthouse, the railing breaks and Vi falls and eats a big fat death sandwitch.

AH, but the thing is, the asshole jazz douchebag Tom totally had a chance to save her life... but he totally didn't. HA! But Tom's relief at Vi's accident soon fades when her vengeful spirit begins showing up wherever he goes.

Hahaha, dumbass! That's what you get!

The film is a pretty effective chiller with a very moody atmosphere, abetted by the constant roaring of the ocean and the slightly annoying, repetitious sounds of the freaking theremin. speaking of sounds, Bert I. Gordon straight lifted a ton of Tormented's music from William Castle's classic 1959 film 'House on Haunted Hill.' Can you believe that? What balls on that man!

Here's a few other neat tidbits about today's second feature... Gordon's own ten-year old daughter Susan Gordon appears in the film as well. The hipster character that bribes the main character Tom was played by Joe Turkel, who would go on to play the iconic Eldon Tyrell in Ridley Scott's Blade Runner. Turkel would appear in two other productions from Bert I. Gordon: The Boy and the Pirates and Village of the Giants. Crazy, huh?

The film was featured in the fourth season, episode 414 of the television series Mystery Science Theater 3000. The MST3K version of the film has been released by Rhino Home Video as part of the Collection, Volume 11 box set."

Here's the thing ...

We have TWO different versions of this movie for you to watch today, the normal, slightly dry version AND the almost perfect MST3K version!
